The SoundGod Story
==================
Chris Snyder and Evan Korzon: Partners In Crime
===============================================

I have been a keyboard player for most of my brief existence
on this little blue ball surrounded with smog we like to call earth. I
have always loved to play comedy and jazz. I don't mean the jazz for
when you're feeling kind of brain-dead, I mean funky jazz, happy swinging
jazz, the jazz with a personality.
When I met Evan in my junior, his freshman year of high-school,
he found out that I also love to work with sound effects and I was the
mixing engineer on the CD we made of our favorite s3ms and mods. It
was around that point that from somewhere, the name SoundGod sprung
into existence. Evan and a few of our friends called me by that name,
and then he turned me on to PC music. We liked what we heard mostly,
and we wanted more. But apart from the few exceptions to the rule like
Necros, Bert, and others, all we heard were variations on techno.
Apparently that was the easiest to make. Some techno is fine, but Evan
and I thought that PC music could go far beyond that. So we decided to
try and track some songs. It seemed only natural that we call ourselves
SoundGod. It just fit.
At first, we weren't sure how they would turn out, but the basis
of our PC philosophy was and remains "No techno!" Our first song,
Improvisation got some positive feedback and some helpful hints. Those,
by the way, were greatly appreciated. Dirty Old Man was our second attempt
at jazz, this time in funk. Thanks to those who contributed ideas and
helpful hints. Four Handed Bluz was our first blues song. There is another
in this disk. It received some fine reviews in the weekly module review.
While it does not have an incredible drum beat, which is fitting for blues,
its cording and melodic lines will make your brain do a doubletake. After
all, we bet you've never heard anything like it in PC music. Our fourth
song was Chevere. That one can only be called jazz for the simple reason
that it really doesn't fit into any category with ease.

We have been working on this music disk since February. We believe it
contains our best work yet. Vigilante is a down and dirty jazz song with
what we laughingly call "coikit" guitar as well as a jazz guitar, some
great electric piano parts, and two really keen flute bridges. It's my
personal favorite out of all of our songs.

Legerdemain is the song we wrote for MC5 which took second in the
intermediate division. It's awesome drum line and catchy refrain make
it a song that you can't stop playing. Also, keep your ear out for a
keen piano solo!

Blues Boy is our second blues song which follows the tradition of giving
nearly every instrument its moment. The name Blues Boy originated out
of a bad habit I have. After writing a really neat part of a song, I
will get up off my piano bench and walk out of the room...not necessarily
to do anything at all, but just to walk. Once, when I did that, Evan
said: "Get back here, Blues Boy!" and for some odd reason, that was the
name we ended up giving the song. It's a blues song that cannot be
overlooked or forgotten.

Obrigado is our version of a Latin song crossed with American jazz.
Special thanks to a former piano teacher of mine, Charles Lewis, for
the great Rolland Latin drum machine and for teaching me all I know
about Latin jazz. The song has a Santana-esk quality to it, but it
seemed kind of Brazilian in nature. Obrigado is "thank you" in Portuguese.
The song title isn't really thank you, but the word obrigado just seemed
appropriate some how.

Blackmail is a nice closer to the disk with its soft ballad approach to
jazz. We called it blackmail because I don't usually write songs like
that, but Evan insisted on it. Blackmail really wasn't what he did,
but it seemed to fit the bill at the time. Looking back, I'm glad he
decided to make me pursue it. It's a fine song, and it's simplicity is
one of its greatest attributes.

Enjoy the disk, and as always, let us know what you think. Most people
don't tell you in their texts how they started, so we thought you might
be interested in hearing a very interesting tale.

Evan stumbled on PC music by mistake in one of the computer games
he was playing at the time. He also discovered Cubic Player which is the
ultimate in PC music players. You should listen to all of our songs in
either CP version 1.7 or higher, also, FT2 which is the program we used to
track them. If it hadn't been for Evan's persistence and diligence, we
would have never gotten started tracking. He is a truly brilliant tracker,
and since I'm blind as a bat, and there are no trackers out there which
don't depend on a mouse for use (that we can figure out), we have developed
our own system. I tell him the notes and the approximate timing, and he
tracks it. He never admits it, but he has a real ear for timing and some
damn fine ideas of his own since he's also musically oriented. I have
perfect pitch, so we find a happy balance here in lunch lady land. I write
and play it, and Evan tracks and refines it. Since we create these songs,
and plan their existences for them, it seems only natural that we call
ourselves SoundGod. When you think of SoundGod, think of one entity, for
that is what we are.

I've babbled enough here. Listen to the disk, and let us know what you
think. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

We love to hear from those who care to write.

Voyager: The Startrek: Voyager Theme in a slightly different format.

The Tick Theme: It's self explanatory. Our favorite present day cartoon
is the tick because of his comedy. If you haven't seen it, you can check
out our amigo azul on Comedy Central.

Dirty Old Man remix.

Holiday jazz medley.

Other originals in the works...

Our songs may not necessarily be in that order, but keep an eye out if
you like our stuff so far.
