
                        THE STOSSER CONVENTION
                        ======================

Greetings STOSSER'S!, well, we've asked you all whether you wanted to 
attend the STOSSER convention, and over the last few months the 
replies have been slowly trickling in.  It looked (even last month) as 
if it wouldn't be possible, then all of a sudden we got a whole stack 
of people expressing their interest, along with a few of the people 
who had written earlier absolutely begging for it to go ahead.  
anyway, the upshot of all that is.............

                              IT'S ON!!!!!

Yes we've finally decided to give it a shot, and based on the answers 
you gave us in your questionaires, we've decided on the following 
things.  


PRICE: #5 per person, it's a bit of a git mentioning that first, but 
       we have to pay for the room hire somehow.  The room will 
       cost around #150 to hire.  I think you'll agree that #5 is 
       a very small price to pay for a good day out.  Tony and I 
       would love to be able to fork out the cash ourselves, but being 
       unemployed, it's not possible.  There is no extra charge if you 
       wish to bring your wives, girlfriends, boyfriends or husbands, 
       the fiver for the two of you is good enough.  (After all we 
       have to keep them happy don't we!), but if you want to bring a
       few friends or something, i'm afraid we'd have to ask you to 
       pay for them.  Just to make sure you get the picture here are 
       a couple of example prices.
       
       One person plus wife/girlfriend etc   #5
       One person plus wife + friend         #10
       One person plus friend                #10
       One person plus two friends           #15
       
       A ticket will be sent to everyone, which will contain a 
       personal number, this ticket must be kept because the number
       will be your draw entry.  Although, the draw will only be held 
       if there is any money left over from the fivers you send in.  
       At this moment, i think it might be a good idea to point out 
       that neither myself nor Tony will make any money out of this 
       whatsoever, we're doing it entirely for the fun of it.       
       
       To ensure you get your tickets, you will need to get your money 
       to me before 31st June, if we do not have enough takers by this 
       time, the meet will be cancelled and all monies returned.  As 
       you can appreciate, we cannot make refunds after this date.  But 
       we would like to be able to confirm the booking before this 
       date. 

       To book your place, simply send a cheque or postal order made 
       payable to KEITH DUNN. Stating how many people will attend.

       I regret i cannot accept any responsibility for payments going 
       missing in the post, and please try to avoid sending cash.  In 
       fact, i would advise that you would use recorded delivery no
       matter how you decide to pay.  
       
*      Please note the cost of the room also includes the cost of 
       hiring 7 televisions sets for the day, and access to the 
       bar all the day.
        
PLACE: Nearly all of you agreed that Coventry would be a sensible 
       place to hold the meeting, being central to just about 
       everybody.  So that's where it will be held.
       
       The actual location of the meeting will be given to 
       everyone when they book, along with a map.  We may even 
       have a feature explaining everything in more detail next 
       issue.  Probably having a drawn map in the mag somewhere.
       Needless to say though, it's easily accessible by road, and 
       isn't too far away from the railway or coach stations.       
       The actual hotel is visible from quite a distance. 
       
       I can assure you that the room we have provisionally 
       booked is perfect for our needs.  It consists of one main 
       room for all the computers etc.... A seperate smaller room 
       right next to it with a nice little bar.  Easy access to 
       toilets (they're right next door too!), and the room itself
       is on the top floor with a good lift, giving us complete 
       privacy, no sharing the bar with any other group.

DATE:  Wednesday the 31st August 1994, the overwhelming majority of 
       you wanted it be held around about this time.

TIME:  All day!, the money you pay will enable us to hire the room 
       with a bar, for an entire day, from 10 in the morning till late 
       at night.   Tony and me will both be there all day.  
       If possible, when you write sending your money, i'd be 
       grateful if you could give basic ideas of when you'll be 
       attending.  You can of course leave messages in the STOSSER 
       TELEGRAPH section stating that you ARE going and what times you 
       expect to be there, In fact please do!
              
BAR:   The bar is a decent bar which should cater for everyone, 
       with both alcohol and alcohol free drinks.
*      I know we keep mentioning a bar!, But this by no way means that 
       you need to be 18 to attend, The convention is open to anyone, No 
       matter what age,
              
FOOD;  Food can be available from the location of the meeting, 
       but this is likely to be a bit too pricey for most, so the best 
       bet is probably a couple of nominees for the chippy or take-
       away every now and again.  

EQUIPMENT:
       Both tony and myself are planning on taking both of our 
       computers to the meet.  But we will still need a few more, along 
       with a few tellies or monitors.  The first 5 people who 
       volunteer to bring either one or the other gets a drink on 
       me on the day! (providing they bring the stuff that is).  
       Thats Keefy writing this by the way (Don't panic Tony!).  
       We'll do our best to ensure the safety of your systems.  
              
       * Please note though, we cannot accept any responsibility for 
       any loss or damage to your equipment, you will have to keep 
       tabs on it yourself i'm afraid.   

ACCOMODATION:
       If you are planning on an overnight stay, you would be well 
       advised to arrange it in advance, if you want to know the 
       prices of local hotels or B+B's write and let me know and i'll 
       see what i can do.  Mind you, any bookings will have to be made 
       by yourself for this.
       

 if you run a disk-magazine, we'd be grateful if you'd 
place this file in it somewhere, and help us spread the word.  
Although the meeting is for STOS users only, it doesn't matter how 
good you are.  In fact for beginners it would be an ideal forum 
for learning new things, i know i'll learn a lot.

 Tony here!!!!!...... Looking forward to meeting a lot of friends and 
making new  friends,  A  few  thoughts for the event,  On  one  of  the 
computers there will be a file set up for entering text,  This will  be 
for  everyone or anyone attending to add to,  This will then  take  the 
form of a massive scroller in the next available issue of STOSSER, 
 Also it would be nice for some photos to be taken, Then some kind soul 
with an exellent scanner can eeerm scan the pictures and along with the 
above  mentioned  scroller would form the shell for the next  issue  of 
STOSSER,  So  if you do have a scanner cabable of nice clear images  of 
the  photos  taken at the event then get in touch with me  to  organise 
things,  I will then send the pictures to you and we should be able  to 
make a novel shell for STOSSER,

  Dont  forget  to bring your  latest  masterpeice,  Anything  you  are 
currently working on or have just finished, Anything you need help with 
etc,  Dont forget we have all day,
  Bring plenty of blanks as i suspect there will be a great deal of 
swapping going on,  But do not attempt to bring anything naughty, We do 
not  want any pirates to attend or pirated software,  Anyone  found  so 
much  as discussing the subject will be ejected,  Probably through  the 
nearest  window,  I am not trying to suggest STOSSERS would do  such  a 
thing,  But other unscrupulous people may try to attend,  They will  be 
dissapointed,

I think that's about it now, i think i've covered everything.  Don't 
forget, you've got until the 31st June, but we would prefer to get 
everything sorted out sooner. Remember, our booking is only 
provisional at present, so we need to confirm as soon as possible.
