Big Heading goes here: nibbles

Version 2 will support SB awe64, GUS, Voodoo 2.

No code of this executable file was harmed during the production of the
source. Fancy way of saying "No self modifying code is used".

Since I got nowhere near the 'smallies', I decided I might as well try to
entertain people who may happen to read this.

After seeing about the compo on r.p.g and first visiting Hugi's
adok.home.pages.de and thinking _WOW_ about the number one position, 70 bytes,
I went back a 2 weeks later to see a 49'er there. unreal...
Wont someone be doing some serious studying after this compo is over!
ha! so much for me good old "Zen of Code Optimisation" book.

Interesting though, while doing this, I took a quick squiz at my entry to the
first and original 256 byte game compo, held in r.p.g back in March '95 and
compressed my entry from 256 bytes down to around the 120 byte mark.
not a bad effot that for a donkey. That entry really sucked.

30-april. Let me see now... 807 compilations so far for a dopey 78 byte entry.
Downloaded and read PPT magazine found on SimTel.Net ftp sites.
Some quite good size optimisation suggestions and stuff.

07-May. Well over 1100 times compiled by now, and for what? A lousy
75 bytes! hit me in the head.

Startup (my 486dx'40).
 ax = 00000h   bx = 00000h    cx = 000FFh    dx = cs = ds = es
 si = 000FFh   di = 0FFFEh    bp = 0091Ch

Written on a dopey 486dx'40 that my boss was going to throw out. I grabbed it,
and wrote this. Four of my 100meg hard drives died since this began.
".COM" file produced by TASM 4/TLINK 7. Tested under NT4 workstation dos box
on a couple of DEC Celebris 166's. Bugger all warranty. If it works, it works.
If it doesn't, then I am disqualified. If it blows up your computer, so be it.
If it jumps up and down, sings, and dances, then all good, said and done.
I didn't like much what happened when I replaced the vertical retrace with
the "mov ah, 0bh / int 10h" and left bx to be whatever, although Hugi accepted
it.

Why is it that some compos get many entries, and some dont?
The original 256byte game compo back in March 95 has around 42 entries.
Then came the fire 256 byte compo with 20 entries.
Worms 256 attracted 10 entries.
128 byte compo had around 20 entries.
DEMO.ITA had around 10.
Christmas 97 256 byte compo had 25.
Last look we have at minimum 64 entries to this compo.
The torus 256 byte had 3 entries, and the 256 byte space invader had 6.
pathetic! Why is that? it was advertised on r.p.g and c.s.i.p.d quite a few
times. Didn't it interest people?

"hey, I am a really crap asm programmer eh?"
"yep"
