           Interview: Sliver / Triad
done by Tomcat / Controlled Dreams

For those, who hadn't read the final compo
results from FLaG: Sliver was the one who won
the C-64 graphics competition. He lives in
Poland, and acts as graphician in Triad, an
old, respected C-64 group.

- Now, hello, this is an interview! So... How is
it started on 64? And what happened to you till
nowadays?

- My adventure with this machine has started
seven years ago, when I got the 'diesel', I mean
C-128d. I think it will not sound so original,
when I tell you I was playing games at those
times. Three years had passed till I started to
enjoy demos, intros, magazines, etc. I was just
getting to know all the things about the scene
and after another year I joined my first group,
named Falcon Design, as a graphician and
swapper. And so on... Later I were in groups
like: Cross of Iron, Sun Designs, Alpha
Flight, Agony, Success (+TRC) and not so much
time ago I decided to leave Coop and moved to
TRIAD, where I hope to stay till my end. Through
the years I stopped my swap activities and now I
stay active only as a gfxman and also calling
the Internet everyday.

- And what about the future?

- At first and foremost, I am going to release
to my collection this days (I already finished
all the pictures and now they are getting older
and older, taking the fact into consideration
that most of them had been finished about two
years ago). And then of course, I support my
group with good gfx every time they need it
(even though I am so lazy). Yo, and at last but
not at least I am going to visit some Polish
parties and have lotsa fun with my old friends,
that already left scene or stay inactive...

- What do you think of PC scene?

- I don't care about it at all as I am not
interested in it. I just hear what my friends
are talking about it and all I can say is it
seems weird to me.

- What do you do when not drawing?

- As I said before, I am lazy and to be honest I
don't spend too much time on drawing. There are
a lot of more interesting things to do for me,
than wasting time in front of my Commy. I do
what most of people in my age can do, it means
going to pubs, discos, playing basketball, body
building, mountain bike riding, travelling, etc.
Just have fun!

- How many compos had you win till FLaG?

- I won just one time before and it was also at
some Hungarian party, sorry, but really forgot
the name of it. Seems I was born to compete at
Hungarian parties ;)

- What do you think C-64 will do in the future?
Will it survive even the PC?

- It's a usual question in most of interviews, I
think. Well, if you look into the past of C-64
at first and then you look at it what is
happening these days, you will find the answer
to this question. I know most of us don't want
to believe in it, but its true - the scene is
slowly going down. Just see, some latest
examples: Pulse and Skyhigh, two respected
magazines are history now, same with Avantgarde.
And I am in lack of words, when I see games
releasing this days... Nothing more to say.

- PC scene is really weak. Especially in
Hungary. How can the 64 scene can be so strong?
As far as I know, it was always this cool.

- Now something more optimistic... Despite the
fact the C-64 scene is not as strong as in past
days, its still much better than the PC scene,
which always has been weak! The reason for it is
that there is something more than just the
possibilities of this or that computer. The
PEOPLE make the Scene! Word up!

- No more questions... greetinx to Triad, and
ofcoz 2 ya!

- Thanx for the interview, also greetings for
you and the other organizers of FLaG party.
