- What Is This?

The technology prototype/demo of HeadHunter. Launch MENU.EXE and choose the
preferred settings. If your video mode isn't supported, the demo will try
to revert to a compatibility/emergency display mode. Note that this is not
a bug, only a convenience while developing the game. We encourage you to
install Scitech Display Doctor before running this demo.

The 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics version is a quick hack, written for two reasons:
see the card in action, and check the suitability of our 3D engine API when
it comes to handling 3D acceleration. Everything was perfect, the card is
amazing and our API only needed a single change - display page flipping had
been left out initially. It is not perfect, you'll notice how the HUD
looks blurred and unreadable; that's because it was originally treated as
a big 320x240 bitmap, and 3Dfx can't support textures bigger than 256.

- Why is it available?

The HeadHunter project was started by July'97, based on some previous
technical research. Diego Soriano, Gonzo Suarez, Jon Beltran de Heredia
and Javier Arevalo founded Arvirago Entertainment, created the preliminary
game design, defined technical and visual features along with Guillermo
Toston as main artist, and then tried to sell the project to publishers.
Thing is, we failed. The design documents we will keep for ourselves, you
never know when it will come handy again; but the prototype has been
sleeping in our hard disks since Fall'1996, it's not going to be worked
any further. So, why not just release it freely?

- Keyboard and Mouse Controls

Control of the ship is carried using the mouse and mouse buttons

Arrows / Mouse - Rotate.
W/S - Move forward/backwards.
A/D - Slide laterally.
Q/Z - Slide vertically.
F1 - Cockpit/external view.
F2 - Freeze camera.
SPACE / Left mouse button - Fire.

ESC quits back to DOS. Any control key during a demo will stop the playback
automatically and yield control to the user.

There are a lot of command-line options for different settings, if you launch
the actual lepton.exe executables. Experiment if you feel like it.
