 Howdy.

Phorte here with my second public release since Coven 96, which was held in
Adelaide, Australia, during September/October. The other release was just a
 re-release of my Algorhythm song  (the music competition at Coven): Airborne;
which sadly came 8/13. Check out the re-release for the full story of what
 happened.

Well this song which you have now received is entitled: Twinlights; and you
may have noticed that it is rather large. Well, I'm not quite sure myself for
why it is so large, but I am too lazy to cut up that large voice narration of
The Crow. All samples are 8-bit, and if you go through them, there isn't
really that many. But those string samples, I believe, are a bit too large
 for their own good.

The full story behind this song goes: I just wanted to sit down and try my
hardest at writing a song. I very soon ran out of patience and it has ended
up like an oversized version of my other songs. I originally intended to use
my knowledge of music theory to its greatest, not rushing it, taking my time
to make it as perfect as possible, not letting anything limit me (eg. size).
The main problem is that I ran out of patience, ran out of love and ideas for
it, ran out of inspiration, and then rushed it like my other songs. I wanted
it originally to be a really cool song with mixed classical and techno into
one sorta thing, and maybe have brilliant piano work but I lost it half way.
Another thing which I was hoping to achieve with this song was to track ideas
rather than sit down and track straight intro and then main and then outro.

Still, apart from all of that, this is still my best song up to date, beating
all my other songs apart from the fact that it still uses my same old generic
chord progressions. I really need help with them. I'm not happy with the lead
and some of the volume is way off. The panning could also have done with some
variation and tricks. And sorry about another shit-whole ending; I ran out of
ideas. Oh... and I can't get rid of that damn click in the oboe.

That cheesy 'C, B, Bb, A, Ab... on the synth' was taken from, if I remember
correctly, Candy Girls. I couldn't help including it. Ain't it annoying?

That piano solo at the end is a rendition, by ear, of The Piano (The heart
asks pleasure first) by Michael Nyman. Only the lead piano is the same; the
rhythm part of it is original which funnily enough has almost the same cheesy
chord progression as the original (D minor | D minor | Bb major | C major).
There is more to it (another half) but that was way too hard to work out.

 Inspiration was obtained from:

                James Horner (Braveheart) Lizardking
                  " " (The Devil's Own) Elwood
                Juno Reactor Mellow-D
                Orbital Dune

Samples from: Lizardking, Mellow-D, Basehead, Elwood, Sirrus, Ozone, Rage,
                Siren, and Scirocco.

My next release will by rather large again, but I will be reverting back to
my old style; ie. none of this boom-boom shit and synth-crap, but rather my
more realistic style of music. And it will probably also have some original
 samples as well. Oooeer. :)

The following is a list of my publicly released songs since early 1996 all
having file formats of PHT-????.ZIP. It does not include any songs from any
productions or anything prior to 1996, as they were all crap.

All of these songs are on ftp://ftp.hornet.org (ftp://ftp.cdrom.com) in the
/pub/demos/music/songs/ directory in the appropriate year and then prefix,
which all happen to be under P for your complete and utter convenience.

Suffix Song Name Format Size Released

  * The original is A-AIRBOR.ZIP which was released at Coven 96.
There is also 2HR-PHOR.ZIP which is my second place 2hr-Music-Competition
     entry at Coven 96.

They should all be present on the Hornet Archive as none of them has scored
 under ***+. :)

But that isn't supposed to mean anything, right?

Well that's that for another release, finally. I really should have worked
longer on this song. But if you like it, that's cool. Tell me that you do.

Contact me at the following e-mail address: fts@otto.satech.net.au.

Hopefully, this will soon be: phorte@otto.satech.net.au but it has not been
 confirmed yet.

Well that's that. I would appreciate it to the utmost extreme if someone out
there, apart from the people I already know locally, contacts me so I know
that someone out there in the big world does listen to my music, and likes it
or maybe doesn't like it. Just someone.

Greets to everyone I know and especially everyone I love; some of you don't
know who you are (for the latter that is).

 Cheerio!
